Supply chain users are struggling with growing ESG responsibilities, with carbon cost increasingly equalling monetary costs in a margin-based industry.
Working with product teams to integrate newly acquired Envizi with IBM's Supply Chain Intelligence Suite, I led the generative research team in mapping capabilities to target personas & journey, quantified Kano feature prioritization and competitor market assessment.
Having turned our initial discovery work into concept product/user flows, I led the research team in validating how well our proposed response to ESG & supply chain business needs would work to resolve user painpoints.
External SMEs were recruited for deep dive interviews & targeted concept testing. Insights were provoked around improvements on emission factor allocation, natural language processing, ESG x SC data exchange, supplier prioritization & engagement.
Then-upcoming FDA Food Traceability List requirements were changing how supply chain users handle food inventory tracking & document management needs. In anticipation of customer challenges, I was requested to clarify the mapping between proposed features & specific target users. New usecases were identified leveraging existing capabilities, and placed in market context for competitive assessment.
Newly identified personas & usecases fed multiple workstreams for the integration release of Transparent Supply into IBM's SCIS offering, with additional recommendations requested from me for potential industry partnerships.
As SCIS approached General Availability release, senior product management requested a rapid study assessing SCIS' usecase competitiveness. ONE Network & o9 Solutions were selected for review, with materials scraped to benchmark key user experiences. Targeted recommendations were provided by me for design enhancements and head-to-head feature positioning.
Outputs from my work was also used to inform executive strategy readouts, sales battlecards and cited in both SCIS' 2022 AI Excellence Award and personal 2021 Product Trailblazer Award.
Supporting enhancement to shipment milestone tracking capabilities, I partnered with a SCIS Design Lead to conduct moderated evaluative testing.
External SMEs were carefully selected & interviewed, in order to feed both in-production & long-term visioning needs.Shipped enhancements saw feature adoption increase +122% , with <10s task completion. Generative research insights has been leveraged for parallel concept workstreams.
Compiling insights across both legacy & recent research efforts, I published the first revamp of IBM's supply chain personas since 2019.
Personas included licensed images, referenced research, validation scoring, detailed role and painpoint descriptions; as well as guidance on stakeholder usage for diverse scenarios.
